Recent Work: Mega Post!

So I've been working like crazy over the past months and have really only been blogging wedding work. I've been shooting some fun lifestyle jobs in between and wanted to post up a few images from some of the most recent shoots. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!! So I just got my film back from Richard Photo Lab (Awesomeness) and had to post this quick image. This is the first image I've ever taken with it and is a straight scan but I love it!

Inspiration and Being a Creative

I've been thinking of making this post for a while now but just haven't gotten around to it. I think inspiration/emotion is the greatest fuel for a creative individual and not necessarily "photographically" inspirational stuff either. While I am a photographer and love to see a moving, emotional, or powerful image, what really is intriguing to me is what caused that photographer to take the image. What types of thought processes do creative individuals take in order to arrive at the image, product, or design they land on? What is the (me included) motivation to get out a make/do something creative?

On a daily basis I flood myself with things that inspire me to be creative and push myself. Whether that is reading the latest blog post from Seth Godin, watching Chase Jarvis on set or giving a talk about being a creative, or browsing work by my favorite artists (painters, musicians, photograhers etc...) In a world where everything has an influence on you and your art, what are you doing to feed this?

There are may different methods of which you can accumulate or gather inspirational media. From clipping magazine pages and storing them in binders (You can see HERE what Bryan of A Bryan Photo does, and you should also check out the photographers he lists at the bottom of the post), to cutting and posting on an inspiration wall or "Vision Board" (Nick Onken does this, check it his post about it HERE), or you can do something similar to what I do, which is use a program called Evernote. I devour magazines and print images as well, however spending so much time online and with the over abundance of really amazing work out there I find this to be a great solution. Evernote allows me to clip and store or simply save URLS to work that I find inspirational while also allowing me to leave specific notes about that link.

Anway, long story short, as a creative you should always be striving to improve on your art. Find things that motivate, drive, and inspire you. Like I mentioned earlier, that doesn't necessarily have to be related to your specific niche. Stay inspired and never settle for ordinary.

Emma Kate and Bryan: Married

On June 20th, in Quitman, MS I had the distinct honor of documenting Emma Kate & Bryan's wedding. These two are such a special couple and so in love it's amazing. It has been awesome getting to know both of them and I had such a great time shooting the wedding.

The day started off with a wonderful Bridal Luncheon before we were to head to the church. Despite being unbelievably hot that day I managed to shoot the dress, shoes, and rings outside before moving inside. We hung out at the church getting ready and prepping for the ceremony. After shooting the First Look and all the formals it was on to the ceremony.

Jodie & Seth: Married

A couple weekends ago I headed down to Macon, MS to shoot an awesome wedding! We started the day with alittle skeet shooting at the Circle M Plantation. Though it was overcast and drizzly, it didn't stop the guys from having a great time. After catching up with the girls we headed up to the church to shoot before the wedding.

The wedding was packed and the ceremony went wonderful. Afterwards we headed back out to the Circle M Plantation to finish up the night with good food, drinks, and dancing. The wedding turned out incredible and was such an honor to document!

Jodie & Seth: Wedding Quick Look

So I'm still without internet access, however I had to run up to the coffee shop to post up a quick look. The wedding this past weekend was gorgeous and I can't wait to share more with you! Rachel & Colt: Married

Last Saturday I had the incredible opportunity to document Rachel & Colt's wedding which took place just outside Meridian, MS.  It turned out to be a down right gorgeous day and we couldn't have had a more beautiful location.

We started off the day with a wonderful Bridal Luncheon before heading off to Rachel's home for hair and makeup.  All the while, the guys were hanging out and just relaxing before the wedding.  Though the sun was bright and hot for most of the day right at ceremony time the sun set just enough to cast some awesome shade on everyone.  The ceremony went wonderfully and was full of emotion.  After getting pelted with Fruit Loops they made their way to the antique Ford Mustang to make their getaway.

Thanks Colt & Rachel, the wedding was amazing and such an honor to document!
