Before & After and an Update :)

So if you're a recent client, or a 2009 or '10 bride you met me and would have noticed I had incredibly long hair.  Well I was actually in the process of growing it out to donate to Locks of Love.  Well after a long 18 months it was FINALLY long enough!  I was able to get it all (well most of it) cut off and feel like myself again!  With summer approaching and a few outdoor weddings in Mississippi I knew the long hair would be HOT, so I was really happy to loose it.  With that said, I'll put up a before and after shot.

On with the update...  In other exciting news, my wife Erin and I have purchased our first home!  We have been slowly moving all our things over and have finally got it to a point where we are living there.  The only problem with this is that we don't, and won't, have any internet access until next monday. Sooo, if I've been a little slow getting back with you that is why.  (Please give me a call if you need something!)

Thanks to some help from Richard Photo Lab and A Bryan Photo, I'm now in love with shooting film!  It's really an awesome thing to shoot film and be able to be so connected with your subject without constantly feeling the need to look at the back of the camera (Not to worry I will still be shooting pretty much all digital, just adding in some film).  So be on the lookout for more film here and there :)

Well it's been an incredibly busy past few weeks, several weddings, a couple lifestyle shoots, and moving!  Thank you for continuing to check out my blog!!

Film from the Holga!

So recently I have been playing around with shooting some film.  I've been shooting some medium format work through the Holga and also a Mamiya.  So I decided to bring along my holga to Santa Monica with me to Courtney & Aaron's wedding.

I only shot one roll while I was out there and just got my film back from Richard Photo Lab (these guys are awesome!).  Anyway, so I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the wedding and then a few I took just hanging out in Santa Monica.

These were all shot on the holga and are straight out of the camera with no processing.

Brooks & Cameron: Married

Last Saturday I had the honor of shooting Brooks & Cameron's wedding in West Point, MS.  I was pretty worried that we would catch some bad weather (especially after the rainy start with the guys and golf) but God had other plans!  The day was beautiful and we had really amazing light all day!

After a wonderful ceremony we were led to the reception by a bag piper :)  The reception was held at the Ritz Theatre in West Point, MS and was a great venue.  Thanks you two for such an awesome wedding, have a great time on your honeymoon!!

Brooks & Cameron: Quick Look!

Courtney & Aaron: Married

So it seems like just the other day I was heading out to Santa Monica to meet up with two total strangers. Last fall I went to Santa Monica, CA to spend some time with Courtney & Aaron. I would be out there to shoot an engagement session for them, but more importantly, get to know them. It's so important to really know your bride and groom and if this means traveling across the US to do that, I'm all up for it!

In the months following the engagement session, I feel like we have really gotten to know one another and I was so pumped when it was finally time to shoot the wedding. So I packed my bags and headed off to sunny California. The wedding was beautiful and took place at First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica.

I started off hanging out with the girls while they got hair and make up before heading over to the W hotel to catch up with the guys. Afterwards we headed on up to the church for the wedding and reception.

Thanks so much you two for an awesome time! It was such an honor documenting your day!

Holly & Jim: Married

I had the great pleasure of shooting a great wedding with another local photographer. Last weekend I 2nd shot with Erin Fults at a gorgeous wedding outside of Jackson, MS. With rain in the forecast for most of the day all we could do was hope and pray for the best. It turned out to be somewhat overcast, but a great day none the less!

Thanks again Holly, Jim, & Erin. Be sure and go check out Erin's Website & Blog as well!
